Agronomy
The Institute of Crop Science (ICropS) offers various graduate programs leading to the degree of Master of Agriculture (MAgr), Master of Science (MS) in Agronomy, MS in Plant Breeding, MS in Plant Genetic Resources Conservation and Management, Doctor of
Philosophy (PhD) in Agronomy, PhD in Plant Breeding and PhD by Research in Plant Breeding.
Under the MAgr, MS and PhD in Agronomy programs, a student may specialize in any of the following areas of study:
- Crop Physiology
- Crop Production and Management
- Seed Technology (for MS/ MAgr only)
- Weed Science
Horticulture
The Institute of Crop Science (ICropS) offers various graduate programs in Horticulture, namely: Master of Science (MS) in Horticulture, Master of Agriculture (MAgr), MS in Plant Breeding, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Horticulture, PhD in Plant Breeding.
Under the MAgr, MS and PhD in Horticulture programs, a student may specialize in any of the following areas of study:
- Crop Physiology
- Crop Breeding
- Crop Production and Management/ Farming Systems
- Propagation and Nursery Management
- Embryology/ Tissue Culture
- Postharvest Horticulture and Seed Technology
Plant Breeding
The Institute of Crop Science (ICropS) offers various graduate programs leading to the degree of Master of Agriculture (MAgr), Master of Science (MS) in Agronomy, MS in Plant Breeding, MS in Plant Genetic Resources Conservation and Management, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Agronomy and PhD in Plant Breeding.
The MS and PhD in Plant Breeding programs were instituted at the University of the Philippines Los Baños in 1982 that puts under a common degree program master’s/doctoral students of UPLB specializing in plant breeding.
Plant Genetic Resources Conservation and Management
The Institute of Crop Science (ICropS) offers various graduate programs leading to the degree of Master of Agriculture (MAgr), Master of Science (MS) in Agronomy, MS in Plant Breeding, MS in Plant Genetic Resources Conservation and Management, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Agronomy, PhD in Plant Breeding and PhD by Research in Agronomy and in Plant Breeding.
The MS PGR programs educates and mentors the current and future germplasm curators/custodians and staff in PGRCM in the region. The program prepares the students for successful careers through the existing curriculum offered at UPLB. It offers new concepts and applications of emerging technologies for use in all aspects of PGRCM. It also exposes students to the issues and policies surrounding PGR at the local, national and international levels. The needs of institutional and community gene banks are integrated into the curriculum providing the students with skills in both systems.
